- Psychology of winning: Fight the Ghosts of Fear
One of the most influential and widely read books of all time on wealth accumulation and success is Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. Published in 1938, it draws on over 20 years of research Hill undertook analysing and interviewing some of the most successful people of his day, including Henry Ford, Theodore Roosevelt, and John D. Rockerfeller. Hill’s overarching conclusion is that fear is the biggest obstacle to success. In the final chapter, he outlines six “ghosts of fear” we need to outwit to become successful. The infographic concentrates on four of them. The ghosts of fear are in orange, the symptoms of these fears are in black boxes, and the actions to outwit the ghosts are either in quotations or blue ellipses. A lot of what we perceive as obstacles to success are delusional tricks played by our own minds, or habits . The wisdom and experience of successful people acts as a guiding light in overcoming these fears and obstacles.
